Finding a friend
The young elf tucks his journal back within the pack he wears strapped to his back. He rises to stand upon the branch which he was seated. The soft hide boots that reach his thighs makes it easy for his feet to balance him in such a manner. He remains imperceptible still blended with the tree for a time before turning from the city and racing among the branches. His steps sure and his soft smile genuinely joyful as he bounds and leaps amid the branches. His feet carrying him from tree to tree listening to their voices and feeling at ease.

He spends the majority of the day in freedom, lost of all thoughts of the city, his friends, family and events. Hearing nothing save the voices of the ancient woods echoed through the youthful song of this forest. His eyes perceive naught but fading colours of leaf, sky and soil. He breathes the odors of air and water. The fire of Ea's passions surging through his body. His steady running turns in rhythm to the steps of an intricate dance. This was his secret. How when he released his thoughts to drown within the sound of the forest he would be swept away by her emotions. His body would be moved into a dance amid her music that he was unable to cease. Nor did he ever wish to. Such a dance he would continue until he passed out from exhaustion, if not but for the whimper that silenced the song.

Elrohir froze upon the low branch he now stood. His keen elven hearing once again attuned to the sounds in the forest not of the trees. Grey eyes losing their haze to gaze over the ground below him.

He spots the rustle of motion hidden by a shrub and another frightened whimper. He hops down gracefully and approaches the source of the noise with caution. Alert for any dangers and poised to flee or to defend himself should the situation require such action. Hesitantly, he reaches out a slender hand and pushes aside the branches to allow his eyes to view the source of the frightened sound.

A tiny wolf cub lays curled into a ball beneath the branches. It looks up at the elf with frightened eyes and would surely run if not for its leg which is entangled in a trapper's snare. The noose pulled tightly slicing deeply into the small one's skin.

Elrohir scowled in anger at the sight. He reached to his boot and removed the dagger he carried for emergencies and uses this to sever the snare. The cub attempts to flee but stumbles and falls yelping in pained distress. Elrohir knows he must remove the wire from the little one's ankle and see him mended for if not he would develop infection and risk losing the paw.

"Shh pen-neth, I know you are frightened. I shall not harm you, I promise." He gently removes his cloak and bundles it around the small animal. Receiving a frightened bite in the process but the wolf is too young to cause much damage. Mind you it still hurts. He wraps him up in the dark cloak, all but for the injured paw, which he works amid the cub's wriggling to remove the wire. Successful, he holds the small unhappy bundle against his chest and begins walking back to the city. "Hush now pen-neth, we will see you mended."

He plans to cleanse and bandage the wound at the healing houses where there are proper supplies. And then to keep him comfortable until healed. He also reminded himself that once the wolf was seen to he should check in on Aredhel to see how she was adjusting.
